Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla has officially revealed that Derrick White will be the starting point guard for the team in the upcoming season.

This decision comes after the Celtics bid farewell to their longtime point guard Marcus Smart, who was traded to the Grizzlies in a recent three-team deal.

When questioned about the point guard position, Mazzulla expressed confidence in White’s abilities, stating, “Derrick will be our starting point guard and one of our starting guards. We have the flexibility to play different lineups, and with the changes we’ve made, it opens up opportunities for Derrick, Payton [Pritchard], and Malcolm [Brogdon].”
