Cam Whitmore sets sights on Rookie of the Year

Cam Whitmore, the talented rookie from the Houston Rockets, has his sights firmly set on the coveted Rookie of the Year award. Despite being drafted at No. 20, Whitmore is brimming with confidence in his abilities and is determined to make a big impact in his debut season.

During an interview with ESPN, the 19-year-old small forward expressed his individual goal of winning the prestigious Rookie of the Year title. Whitmore’s stellar performances in the NBA 2K24 Summer League further solidify his belief in his abilities. He was crowned the Summer League MVP, averaging 19.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 31 minutes per game over six games.

“I’ll definitely say a goal, individual goal of mine is definitely win Rookie of the Year. I definitely have that coming. I definitely can make a jump to win that,” Whitmore said.

When asked about the source of his confidence, Whitmore credited not only his diverse skillset but also his unwavering self-belief. He sees himself as a unique athlete with the biggest skillset among the draft picks.

“Not just the skillset,” he said. “I think I have the confidence overall. I have the biggest skillset in the draft right now, and I think I’m the most different type of athlete.”
