76ers’ rookie Ricky Council IV carries on family tradition with unique name

The 76ers’ rookie, Ricky Council IV, brings more than just his basketball skills to the team; he carries on a unique family tradition with his name. Council’s two older brothers, Ricky Council II and Ricky Council III, were also named after their father, Ricky Council, and both played college basketball.

Council, a 21-year-old shooting guard, recently signed a two-way contract with the Sixers after going undrafted this year. Prior to joining the NBA, he spent three years playing college basketball at Wichita State and Arkansas.

During his last season with the Razorbacks, Council showcased his abilities on the court, averaging an impressive 16.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 34.1 minutes per game.
