John Lucas will still be able to find himself at the camp of the Houston Rockets, but not on the sidelines this time and moving forward.

According to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle, Lucas will now leave his assistant coaching position as he will take his acts as a member of the Rockets’ front office as an assistant general manager.

Lucas, a former player, and Houston basketball star, started his assistant coaching stint as a member of Mike D’Antoni’s staff from 2016-17. He went on to get retained upon Stephen Silas’ reign for the previous three years.

A beloved assistant and favorite within the Rockets franchise, Lucas forged a close bond with the team’s young and promising players most especially with Turkish sensation Alperen Sengun.

Lucas’ move to the front office came in the wake of Ime Udoka being the club’s newest bench boss and applying a massive coaching staff change.
