The hype surrounding Victor Wembanyama can only be compared to that of LeBron James before he entered the NBA. More than a year before the NBA Draft he was basically a consensus number one pick and was labelled a generational talent.
Despite all the hype around him, Wembanyama says that he does not feel any pressure from it, which is very rare to see from young prospects like him.
“When someone says that you are the best prospect in a generation, the best prospect since LeBron [James]. I believe one of my colleagues called you the best prospect ever in team sports. That just goes in one ear and out the other? There’s no pressure from that?” Redick asked Wemby.
“True. No pressure from that,” the 19-year-old French prodigy replied.
