The quest for being the No. 2 overall pick has strengthened at the side of Brandon Miller.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Miller “further solidified” himself within the impression of the Charlotte Hornets as their choice for the prized second overall selection in the upcoming NBA Draft.

“I’m told that Alabama’s Brandon Miller further solidified his standing as Charlotte’s choice at No. 2 with a workout and meetings he had in Charlotte,” Wojnarowski said on his Tuesday appearance in Sports Center. “This is the first time that Michael Jordan, the outgoing majority owner in Charlotte, had a chance to watch Miller in person, to sit down and meet with him.”

Both Miller and G League prospect Scoot Henderson were notably scheduled by the Hornets for a separate second round of workouts, but the Alabama star stood out much better from the first meeting he had as added by Wojnarowski.

“Both Miller and Scoot Henderson came back to Charlotte for second workouts, second meetings, and I’m told Miller was better the second time around in that environment than he had been the first time,” pointed out Wojnarowski.

Woj also noted that Miller has a clear positional advantage over Henderson in their bid to become the second top selection since Charlotte already has star floor general LaMelo Ball. Henderson’s addition could mean redundancy for the Hornets in their lead ball-handling role.

“Right now, Brandon Miller continues to be the focus for the Hornets at No. 2,” he said.

Miller and Henderson are already assumed to fill the Tops 2-3 of the 2023 Draft as lottery winners in San Antonio Spurs are slated to land French wunderkind Victor Wembanyama for the first overall pick.

Miller, 20, is a six-foot-nine swingman who boasts an interesting talent with that length, athleticism, and scoring potential. He averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 boards, and 2.1 for the Crimson Tides en route to being named 2022-23 SEC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

The 2023 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday.
