Memphis exploring possibilities of trading Tyus Jones: insider

The Memphis Grizzlies are on the hunt as they continue to explore the possibility of trading away Tyus Jones, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports.

Added by Fischer, the Grizzlies are leaning toward upgrading their wing position as the controversial Dillon Brooks is expected to land in a new team as he will hit free agency this offseason upon being informed by the franchise that he won’t be retained in any circumstances.

Jones’ case of being placed in the trade mill can’t be more enticing due to the fact that Ja Morant is suspended for the first 25 games of next season in the wake of his second gun incident. A potential departure of Jones only leaves a huge void for the Grizzlies as he serves as their trustworthy floor general off the bench for the past four years.

But as Jones enjoyed a solid 2022-23 wherein he averaged career highs in points (10.3) and assists (5.2) in 80 games, maximizing his increased value on the marketplace is considerably logical for Memphis to further address their roster needs – specifically their depth at the forward spot.

As noted by Fischer, OG Anunoby of the Toronto Raptors makes sense in the Grizzlies’ case of dealing Jones to improve their wingman spot. As such, it remains to be seen if Toronto will finally hit its reset button as all eyes are watching its future plans.
