Valencia adds depth in its frontcourt

Three-time Eurocup champion Valencia Basket bolstered its frontcourt by inking center Justin Hamilton and power forward John Shurna to respective one-year deals on Monday.

Hamilton (2.13 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Minnesota of the NBA, where he averaged 9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 17 games last season. He started the 2014-15 season with Miami of the NBA, averaging 2.8 points in 24 games before joining Minnesota.

Hamilton started his professional career with Cibona Zagreb and played in the 2012-13 Eurocup, averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 5 games. He has also played for VEF Riga of Latvia.

Shurna (2.04 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul, where he averaged 9.5 points on 48% three-point shooting and 3.4 rebounds in 28 Turkish League games last season. He has also played for FIATC Joventut Badalona of Spain and Strasbourg of France, to which he helped reach the French Cup and the French League finals in 2013.

Shurna, an accomplished three-point shooter with a very unique shot release, helped the USA U19 national team win get a gold medal at the 2009 World Championships.
