The Atlanta Hawks have formally signed Igor Kokoskov to become Quin Synder’s top assistant coach, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Recent news from the past few days already broke out that Kokoskov is expected to be hired by the Hawks. As stated by Woj, he got a significant familiarity with Snyder stemming from their partnerships in the Utah Jazz and Missouri.

A renowned European mentor, Kokoskov is a notable league assistant for 20-plus years in nine different franchises. He previously served as one for the Brooklyn Nets this season.

He also became the first head coach born and raised outside of the United States to obtain a head coaching job in the NBA after a one-year run with the Phoenix Suns back in 2018-19.

Snyder, who took over as the head coach of the Hawks after the club dismissed Nate McMillan in 2022-23 midseason, is continuing to fill the vacancies of his coaching structure heading to next campaign. As such, Kokoskov joins Mike Brey, Jeff Watkinson and Steven Klei on his staff.

The Hawks finished the season as the East’s seventh-seed with a 41-41 record upon outlasting the Miami Heat in the Play-In tourney. They managed to drag the Boston Celtics to six games on their first-round set of this year’s playoffs.
