The Suns have continue their search for a new head coach after parting ways with Monty Williams, and one candidate on their radar is Jordi Fernandez, currently an assistant coach for the Kings, according to John Gambardo. Fernandez, who has an extensive coaching background, is being considered for the top coaching role in Phoenix following his impressive work with the Kings.

Fernandez started his NBA coaching career in 2009 with the Cavaliers as a player development coach. He has since honed his skills and gained valuable experience, working with notable players such as LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal during his time with the Cavaliers. Fernandez joined the Nuggets coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2016-17 season before transitioning to the Kings.

Known for his strong work ethic and ability to connect with players, Fernandez has earned praise from both colleagues and players alike. Mike Gansey, the Cavaliers Assistant General Manager, commended Fernandez for his versatility and ability to relate to players, making him a valuable asset to any team.

Fernandez’s coaching prowess was further recognized in ESPN’s annual report on potential coaching candidates in 2018, cementing his reputation as a rising star in the coaching ranks. His recent success as the head coach of the Kings’ Summer League team, where he guided Keegan Murray to the Summer League MVP award, has only bolstered his credentials.
