Tristan Thompson expresses desire to continue with Lakers, embraces team role

Lakers center Tristan Thompson has expressed his strong desire to continue with the team as he enters unrestricted free agency this summer. After joining the Lakers on April 9, 2023, Thompson quickly embraced his role and contributed to the team’s playoff run.

During the Lakers’ season-closing interview, the 32-year-old veteran expressed his love for the organization and his willingness to be part of the team’s future. Thompson emphasized his commitment to winning and stated, “I’d love to come back. I’d love to be here for training camp. I love to be part of what we’re building here. It’s definitely a role that I embrace. At the end of the day I’m all about winning.

“I’m about winning and however I can help a team, whether it’s on the sidelines, whether it’s in the state ready runs, whether it’s being in the game, I’m two feet in for whatever the team needs. So hopefully I’m able to do that again for this team next year because I really loved being here and love what they’re building. So hopefully we can get something done.”

Thompson’s role with the Lakers primarily involved providing valuable support from the sidelines and being ready to make an impact whenever called upon. He appeared in 6 of 16 playoff games for Los Angeles, averaging 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in just 5.3 minutes per game.
