Toronto Raptors will play the Orlando Magic in a regular season game on Thursday January 14 at London’s O2 Arena as part of the NBA Global Games 2016.

It will be the third time that the Raptors will play in the English capital following their 2011 Global Games series against the New Jersey [now Brooklyn] Nets.

For the Magic, they will step on to English soil for the first time since 1993, when a young Shaquille O’Neal stepped on to the court for a pair of pre-season contests.

This game will also mark the first regular season clash that does not involve teams from the New York, New Jersey area.

“We look forward to returning to London next season with a regular-season game between the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. “This underscores our commitment to growing basketball in the region and to bringing more regular-season basketball to our fans in the UK.”

“On behalf of the Magic organization, we are looking forward to returning to London for NBA Global Games 2016,” Magic coach Scott Skiles commented. “I remember playing in London with the Magic in 1993 and I am sure our current players will relish this unique opportunity.”

Raptors coach Dwane Casey added: “NBA Global Games 2016 in London is a great platform for our players and staff to represent the NBA and bond with Raptors fans overseas. We look forward to an exciting atmosphere for our game against the Magic.”
