The Phoenix Suns have labelled Chris Paul as unavailable to play in Game 6 of their second-round series against the Denver Nuggets, per Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
Paul, who sustained a left groin strain back in Game 2, has missed the series’ last three matches. He appeared to have gained the said injury in a rebound battle against Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
On the team’s shoot around this Wednesday, Paul had some extensive practice and workout. Head coach Monty Williams has noted that the All-Star guard is doing more workload than the previous occasions.
For the previous three games, the red-hot offensive fireworks of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker boldy carried Phoenix en route to victories in Games 3 and 4 at home to tie the series. But on Tuesday, they fell in Game 5 loss via wire-to-wire second-half dominance by Denver.
Paul’s absence can’t be more significant on the storyline around Suns’ intent to send the Conference Semis to a sudden death Game 7 back to Denver. The Nuggets are holding a 3-2 series lead with Game 6 slated on Thursday.
