Nikola Jokic and Bruce Brown walked over to the Suns’ bench during a timeout late in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Nuggets and the Suns.
Phoenix were gathered around head coach Monty Williams as the two Denver players stood right behind them. Kevin Durant shoved Jokic and received technical foul. Brown was also given one.
After the game the Serbian superstar explained what happened. “Just to see what they were drawing up, just to see the play. I mean, that is what I was doing,” the two-time MVP said, via Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
“I mean, of course it’s the reaction. I don’t know why Bruce reacted on that because if he didn’t react, we would have had free-throws and he reacted so we didn’t have free-throws. Actually, I am blaming Bruce.”
For his part, Durant played down the incident. “Absolutely nothing,” he said. “It is anything serious. They were excited, they were up big and we was trying to draw some stuff and you know how that goes. It was nothing.”
