In fact Bynum received a lucrative offer for a contract extension by Guangdong Southern Tigers.
When the last CBA season ended he told he would like to sign a multi-year deal to stay in China.
Last season with Guangdong he averaged 22.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game, giving a solid defensive leadership to the team and pushing him to the longest winning streak in CBA history (26 consecutive games).
