The Lakers were unable to defeat the Grizzlies in Game 5 and close out the series in Memphis. Los Angeles lost the game 99-116 and will have another chance in Game 6 at home.
James Worthy, who won three NBA championships as a Laker, shared his thoughts on Game 5.
“We knew it would be a barn burner back in Memphis,” Worthy said on Spectrum SportsNet. “A game of runs. Memphis just had more runs. I think the Lakers, again, with DLo knocking some significant threes down at good timing got the Lakers back in.
“But Memphis desperation, them getting the ball in the paint quite a bit. The Lakers unfortunately continued to turn the ball over, they got out in open court. And they were able to erase that comeback quickly and take it up to plus 15, 20 points.
“Game of runs and Memphis had better and more runs against the Lakers in that game.”
