Russell Westbrook talks about looming free agency

This summer Russell Westbrook will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career. The former league MVP split the year between the Lakers and Clippers.

When asked about the upcoming free agency, Russ says that he loves being with the Clippers.

“This will be probably my first time actually in my career being able to make situations or make a decision,” Westbrook said. “But one thing I do tell you is that I love it here. I love the people, just the fans overall, just just to embrace not just me but my family and close friends, just the ability to be able to go out and compete.

“I know it was end of the year and a lot of different things happened, but I’m grateful and I definitely love being here. As far as making the decision, I guess I’ll cross that bridge and I get there, don’t really know my process because it’s kind of my first time doing this. So we’ll see what happens.”

Westbrook averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 29.1 minutes per game this season. His numbers went up to 23.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 38.2 minutes per game during the playoffs.
