Paul George is hopeful that the Los Angeles Clippers will be able to find such ways to have Russell Westbrook back to their camp next season.

“He’s giving literally everything he’s got to our franchise during this playoff run,” George said of Westbrook, per Los Angeles Times’ Andrew Grief. “So I just think he’s the leader that we need at the point guard position going forward and would love to have him back.”

With George and Kawhi Leonard serving their absences because of their respective right knee sprains, the Clippers have heavily relied on Westbrook’s main production against the Phoenix Suns this first-round series. The former star point man is averaging 26 points, 7.5 boards, 7.3 assists and shooting 46 percent from the field in four games so far.

Signed by the Clippers as a midseason asset, Westbrook provided that significant presence at point for the club, and already expressed his delight of being part of their program.

Westbrook is set to hit the upcoming offseason market as an unrestricted free-agent, as his five-year contract worth over $200MM will expire following this season.
