Donovan Mitchell fully understands that he deserves the primary blame for the Cleveland Cavaliers Game 4 defeat against the New York Knicks on Sunday.

“I didn’t show up for my teammates,” Mitchell said after the 102-93 loss, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. “Everybody did their job, and I didn’t do what I was capable of and that’s on me. I played like s—. I’m the leader of this group, everybody did their job, and I didn’t. Simple as that.”

The Cavs’ main man ended the weekend in a horrible fashion, finishing with just 11 points on 5-of-18 shooting, including 0-of-4 from threes. He had two markers in the final frame and registered a lowly 1-of-9 shooting in the second half.

He also tallied six turnovers in the course of team-high 42 minutes logged in the pivotal matchup against the Knicks team that posted their sheering defensive pressure against the All-Star guard for the second-straight game.

With the loss, the fourth-seed Cavs are now on the brink of elimination, one loss away from ending their season on such a disappointing note after harnessing promises and expectations.

But Mitchell insisted that the fight is not over yet as they look to save their campaign one step at a time.

“It’s not over yet,” said Mitchell. “The way we lost sucks, but it’s like we can’t hang our heads and ultimately give up. We’re not that type of group.

“Like I said, we’ll be ready for Game 5 [on Wednesday].”
