DeMar DeRozan isn’t happy about the online threats that his daughter Diar has received in wake of her unexpected role in the Chicago Bulls’ Play-In win against the Toronto Raptors.

Diar stood up as the Bulls’ unexpected heroine last Wednesday, unleashing ear-splitting screeches in all of the Raptors’ 36 free throw attempts. Her distraction while sitting in the stands ultimately made an impact on the Toronto team that shot a humiliating 18-for-36 foul shots (50%) in their 109-105 defeat.

TNT’s Chris Haynes went on to report Friday that the Bulls security escorted DeRozan’s daughter out of the Scotiabank Arena following the match, as the NBA notified the club that the nine-year-old girl was subjected to warnings in social media due to her distractions.

“I was with her. I guarantee you nothing would ever happen when I’m with my daughter,” DeRozan said following the Bulls’ season-ending defeat against the Miami Heat, per NBC Sports’ K.C. Johnson. “It’s just idiotic people at the end of the day. Obviously, it’s frustrating when you hear any type of threats. You don’t try to take anything lightly. My thing is my daughter don’t know nothing about it. She just know the good side of we won the game. As long as she’s happy with that, I’m not worried about nothing else.”

Diar didn’t appear in Chicago’s Play-In match against Miami in South Beach, as she seemed to ultimately attend her class. DeRozan clarified in his postgame presser against the Raps that he won’t allow her daughter to spectate so that she can continue her studies.

The All-Star swingman further shared his disappointment about the negativity that Diar has absorbed due to her role in the Bulls’ Play-In triumph.

“It’s crazy. It’s just the world that we live in. No matter how good something could be, you still got just miserable people out there that don’t have a life, honestly. It’s sad,” DeRozan said. “We see it every single day. More than anything, all I care about is my daughter enjoying her moment, her time. Keep that within our circle. I don’t get her caught up in all the negative stuff that comes on the outside. That’s just me being a protector as a father.

“Me knowing what it’s like on the other end of being famous and everything, it’s just sad. Some people sit up and use their fingers to make any type of idle threats. It’s miserable.”
