Apparently, current free-agent coach Ime Udoka is enjoying his time off the court, spending his Wednesday night watching the hoops showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and L.A. Clippers within Crypto.com Arena.

Udoka notably drew headlines in the NBA late in last offseason after it was confirmed that he had an inappropriate, consensual relationship with a Boston Celtics female staffer – coming in just months after he guided the franchise to an NBA Finals run in his rookie head coaching year in 2021-22. Further investigation determined that the team member accused Udoka of using unwanted, crude language on her.

The Celtics went on to suspend Udoka for the entire 2022-2023 season and proceeded to tap Joe Mazzulla as an interim head coach. Last February, after carrying the C’s to a top record, the franchise removed the interim tag and named the young mentor as their new head coach, relieving Udoka of his duties.

Udoka’s attendance at the crosstown rivals’ bout may mean something with regard to his future head coaching candidacy. Nevertheless, given the scandal he created that remains sizzling, it is yet to be seen if an NBA club will dare to carry the public pressure of hiring him.
