Luka Doncic admits his expectations for Mavericks were “way different”

The Mavericks lost a very important game against the Heat (122-129) and are now facing a very real risk of not making the postseason.

Dallas is currently 11th in the Western Conference with 37 wins and 41 losses. The team is one game behind the Thunder (38-40).

With just four regular season games left, the Mavs do not control their own destiny. Even if they go 4-0 over the remaining games, the team could still be eliminated.

Less than a couple of months ago the Mavericks were fourth in the West and seemed to be on track for another strong season. The addition of Kyrie Irving gave even more hope, but what followed was a steep dive in the standings.

Luka Doncic admits that a couple of months ago he expected that his team will up in the standings at this point of the season.

“Way different. I thought we will be up there,” Doncic said after the Miami game. “But we obviously aren’t, so it’s way different than I thought.”
