Head coach Erik Spoelstra got nothing but full commendation on Kevin Love in their 129-122 Sunday win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Love came up huge off the bench to help Miami in matching the sizzling shooting of the Mavericks, chipping 18 points in 5-of-9 shooting while grabbing five boards. He was appointed to play as a reserve for the first time since joining the Heat last month, and Spoelstra is delighted to see the professionalism at the side of the ex-star big man.

“Kevin, I just can’t say enough about his professionalism,” Spoelstra said of Love, per Ira Winderman of South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “And that might be the way we go the next four games.

“He gave us a great spark off the bench.”

Love is no stranger to playing as a backup unit. He notably played that role last year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he went on to become a runner-up behind his current teammate Tyler Herro for the Sixth Man of the Year honors upon averaging 13.6 points, 7.2 boards, and 2.2 assists in 74 games played.

Love and the Heat will look to get even higher on the Eastern Conference standings as they are set to face the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
