For the second game in a row Anthony Davis scored 38 points. This time the 30-year-old forward also had 17 rebounds to complete a massive double-double in the Lakers’ win over the Timberwolves (123-111).

His teammate LeBron James said after the game that Davis understood how important the game was and took it upon himself to carry the team to the win.

“I think he understood the assignment and knew how important this game was. I think we all knew that. We jumped on AD’s back and he brought us home,” James said.

LeBron was the asked what he yelled to Davis after he went for three straight baskets. “Just keep going,” the four-time NBA champion said. “Just keep going. He’s too dominant. Just keep going. And he showed that all game tonight.”

With this win the Purple and Gold (39-38) rose to the seventh place in the Western Conference. They are 1.5 games behind the sixth-placed Warriors with five games left to play.
