Grant Williams isn’t too worried about the up-down role he’s been grasping for the Boston Celtics recently.
Added to the fact that he is shooting inconsistently, Williams can only be determined by the responsibilities being given to him – controlling what he can control.
“If I was happy right now, then you would say I didn’t care about basketball,” Williams said, via Jared Weiss of The Athletic. “For me, you just gotta go out there and do what you’re asked. That’s the position I’m in, you’re not the top guy, you’re not the bottom guy, so you gotta focus on what you can control.”
For reference, Williams has been dealing with hardships on his shooting splits. Last February, he only drained 35.4 percent of his field goal shots. His trademark three-point shooting just went 35.1 percent in efficiency.
His 67.9 percent at the charity stripe is also unpleasant – as it further extended in his blunderous misses against the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this week.
The Athletic reported Tuesday that the big man has been dealing with his ligament injury, but Williams insisted that he is eager to play through pain to help Boston win.
“It’s a weird injury, but you play through it because that’s what you do for the team,” said Williams.
“It don’t matter if your numbers go down, it don’t matter if your minutes go down because of it, you just do whatever it takes to help the team win.”
