Daryl Morey hits media members’ MVP preferences after Joel Embiid feasted vs T-Wolves

Following another superior night from Joel Embiid against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Daryl Morey published an enticing case of media preferences in voting the league’s most valuable player.

On his Twitter post this Tuesday, the Philadelphia 76ers office chief slams the decisions of media voters who choose a candidate that “barely avoids the play-in tournament.”

Based on the post, it seems that Morey is also taking a shot over reigning back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic. The Serbian star notably carried the Nuggets last year as a sixth-seeded club (48-34) in the Western Conference.

But Jokic’s case for that MVP year can’t be easily denied. Despite not having key scoring cagers in Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. at his side, he still splendidly dragged the Denver team to contention with his all-around brilliance and wizardry by averaging 27.1 points, 13.8 boards, and 7.9 assists.

These overwhelming efforts toppled the candidacy of Embiid, who finished the campaign leading the league in scoring (30.6) and pushing the Sixers to the East’s fourth seed with a 51-31 record.

With Jokic and Embiid having another career year while aiding their team to the top spot of the NBA power rankings, the result of this year’s MVP race is truly thrilling – which will definitely create raucous noises from the supporters of both clashing camps yet again for the third-straight time.
