According to Infosport.lt, Zalgiris point guard Marko Popovic would like to stay in Kaunas. 26-year-old Croatian spent two years in Lithuania. His contract expires this summer andhere is no doubt that Popovic will receive some serious offers from European clubs. But if Zalgiris can match offers of other teams, Marko gives priority to the Greens.
He is still unsure where he will be playing next year but guaranteed that it won't be his homeland. Popovic hopes to sign a new contract before the Olympic Qualifying Tournament where he will be representing Croatia.
Marko Popovic called his two seasons in Zalgiris as the best years of his career. The fans' favourite felt like he was playing at home. There was even an online petition started by Zalgiris fans where everyone could sign for the stay of "Popo" at the club.
