Royce White on Ja Morant: “This is not something that black people should be onboard with”

Former NBA player Royce White share his thoughts on the incident of Ja Morant showing a gun on Instagram Live stream that resulted in him being suspended by the Grizzlies and being investigated by police.

According to White, who is a strong supported of the Second Amendment, the behaviour that Morant has displayed should not be acceptable, but in reality is rather widespread in certain communities.

“This is not something that black people should be onboard with,” White said. “We can’t cry about ‘Black Lives Matter’ and the police using fatal force and shooting us in the streets but we drink alcohol at the strip club and play with a gun.

“And this isn’t rare. It’s rare for a budding superstar basketball player to do on social media, but if you’re from the hood like I’m form, this whole motif isn’t rare at all.

“This has become the new norm. Young kids who are immature, who wear a hoodie up like that, tie it and got the ski mask and the whole… the whole motif has become commonplace for black communities across this country. Anybody who says that it’s not, they’re lying.”
