Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III could miss the next 7-10 days for the club as he continues to recover from a left hamstring strain, coach Joe Mazzulla said Sunday.

Williams sustained the said injury in the Celtics’ Friday loss against the Brooklyn Nets. He also missed the team’s eventual home loss this weekend against the New York Knicks.

“I think they said 7-10 days or so, but those things can change depending upon how quickly he can get back to sprinting,” Mazzulla said, per Steve Hewitt of the Boston Herald. “So, just kind of have to see.”

Williams III notably missed the first 29 games of this season after undergoing left knee surgery – the second procedure he took this season.

The shutdown that Boston will apply on Williams III may only hint at their intent to be cautious for the big man, given his long injury history and the soon opening of postseason gates in April.

“I think he’s done a good job of his rehab and coming back and working through stuff,” Mazzulla continued. “So, we’re not going to rush him by any means. But when he’s healthy we need him and we want to play him. So, whenever he comes back, we’ll be ready.”

In 17 games played this season, Williams III is averaging 8.4 points and 8.6 boards, shooting a career-high 75 percent from the field.
