Chandlers Parsons on Ben Simmons: “He’s most likely a minimum player for the rest of his career”

Former number one draft pick Ben Simmons has been in decline since his fourth year in the league. The 26-year-old point guard missed the entire last season and his return this year has been far from impressive.

This season Simmons is averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 26.3 minutes per game for the Nets. According to former NBA player Chandler Parsons, it seems that there is a mental block keeping Simmons from playing to his potential.

“He was heck of a played and he’s athletic and he’s got a strong build and he’s got great vision,” Parson said on FanDuel TV. “Like, he ha all the tools physically to be a successful player in this league and I’ve seen flashes where he’ll get that rebound, he’ll go coast to coast and he can finish.”

As far as Simmons’ future is concerned, Parsons thinks he could get bought out by Brooklyn and end up being a minimum player for the remainder of his career.

“It’s a strong mental block in my opinion where he just can’t overcome it and we have to stop talking about it. We have to take him for what he is. I think eventually it’s gonna lead to a buyout and he’s most likely a minimum player for the rest of his career.”
