The Lakers are set to miss LeBron James for an extended time due to an ankle injury. The 38-year-old superstar will be absent just as the team needs to make a strong push to make the postseason.

His teammate Anthony Davis does not want the four-time NBA champion to rush his return. The Lakers lost their first game without James against the Grizzlies (109-121).

“We got a great team, more than enough to go out and get wins and more than enough to get a win tonight, more than enough to get a win tomorrow and so on and so forth,” Davis said postgame.

“Just compete like we did tonight and don’t turn the ball over. Guys have been playing extremely hard. Obviously, his presence on the floor, his voice, his playmaking, his scoring ability will definitely be missed. Other guys got to step up, just come out and be aggressive.”

“I don’t want him to rush back really early and it’s still bothering him and now he can’t be himself… I want him to get completely right and healthy before he steps on the floor. It’s on us and other guys in locker room to step up and continue winning basketball games and let him take care what he needs to take care of,” he said.
