Where does Giannis Antetokounmpo rank in the NBA MVP race?

Giannis Antetokounmpo this season has lived up to his name, “Greek Freak,” and now is on his way to winning yet another MVP title. However, he is not the only person this season who has performed exceptionally well in the NBA; the likes of Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokić and Luka Dončić are up with him in the race.

Giannis has previously won two MVPs coming into this season, which also came back-to-back in 2019 and 2020. Compared to the other competitors, Giannis is very close to winning the MVP title! While looking at the averages of the top players, the Bucks’ power forward is tied with Joel Embiid and just two points behind the season’s sensation, Luka Dončić.

However, points alone cannot determine the MVP. The “most valuable player” must prove himself in everything, including the number of rebounds and assists.

For instance, Nikola Jokić is currently leading the MVP race despite his low points average. Nikola only averages 24.7 points, but with 11.5 rebounds and 10.1 assists, he keeps up his “triple-double” stats and is in first place in the MVP race.

Where does Giannis Antetokounmpo rank?

Giannis certainly makes it into the top five in the MVP race and, with his recent performances, is seeded in the number two spot in the NBA MVP race, according to the Kia MVP Ladder.

Just a week earlier, many sources claimed he was behind the Philadelphia 76ers’ star players, Nikola Jokić and Joel Embiid. However, with his determination and hard work, Antetokounmpo is once again a top contender for the MVP award.
