Just before the trade deadline the Warriors brought back Gary Payton II from the Trail Blazers via a four-team trade.
However, the story does not end there as the 30-year-old shooting guard failed his physical, as reported by NBA insider Shams Charania. Payton has a core muscle injury that could sideline him for up to three months.
This gives Golden State the grounds to cancel the entire trade. There is a possibility that the Dubs would still go ahead with the trade in order to keep Payton.
The 2022 NBA champion appeared in just 15 games for Portland after missing the first 35 games as he was recovering from abdominal surgery. He is averaging 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 17 minutes per game this season.
