The Toronto Raptors have acquired Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs, with them sending Khem Birch and a protected first-rounder in 2024, along with two future second-round picks (h/t ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski).

Raptors, being touted as the “first domino to fall” this trade deadline given their enticing inconsistencies this season, may have seemed to fleeced rival teams while overturning themselves to still contend with this acquisition of Poeltl.

One of the most coveted trade targets this season, Poeltl will reunite with the Raptors and fill in the team’s missing piece at the starting center spot. The big man started his career in Toronto back in 2016 and spent his first two seasons with them.

Poeltl, averaging 12.9 points and 9.2 rebounds this season, is set to become an unrestricted free agent, and the Raps will certainly look to ink him with a new contract this the upcoming offseason.
