A year after having enjoyed major success in their first season together, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and head coach Luca Banchi are going their separate ways, the club announced Thursday.

Banchi, 49, arrived in Milan two summers ago and immediately took the team on its first playoffs run in the Euroleague this century, finishing with an overall record of 16-12 in the continent’s top competition, although falling short of a spot of that year’s Final Four in Milan.

After subsequently winning the Italian League title, EA7 Milan and Banchi signed a new two-year agreement together. This season, their fortunes regressed with a 9-15 Euroleague record and an early exit in the Italian League semifinals. Banchi had previously won an Italian League title with Montepaschi Siena in 2013 and led that club to a 12-12 record in his first Euroleague season.
