2023 NBA Trade Deadline: 5 teams that you might see make moves

As we approach the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday, here’s 5 teams that I believe will make some moves.

Toronto Raptors: The Raptors sitting at 12th place right now out East strongly points towards trades being made in my opinion. They’ve underachieved so badly in 2022-23 that I think you can’t go forward with this roster any longer, as the future of the conference looks bright (Orlando Magic just behind them at the moment).

Detroit Pistons: Detroit has many veterans that don’t really get much minutes that can help playoff teams. Names like Alec Burks, Nerlens Noel, Hamidou Diallo, Marvin Bagley, Cory Joseph, Rodney McGruder, and Kevin Knox come to mind right away.

Utah Jazz: Marc Stein (h/t RealGM) wrote that the Jazz have made Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler, and Ochai Agbaji off limits in trade talks, which to me looks like the entire roster except for those three will be available this week. They had a great start, but Utah has now dropped to 10th place in the West.

Sacramento Kings: Kings head coach Mike Brown has made it known many times that this club needs to be better defensively. I’d expect a trade or two to help improve on that side of the ball.

Portland Trail Blazers: For someone who is 32 years old, Damian Lillard clearly has a lot of gas left in the tank, but the Blazers being in 11th place with him still playing at an All-Star level isn’t going to cut it. It’s getting to that point where 2nd year head coach Chauncey Billups has to prove he can win as well. So I definitely believe that Dame and coach Billups’ situations will push the team to make some deals.
