Brooklyn Nets fans are not taking Kyrie Irving’s trade request very well.

Irving missed Saturday’s game against the Wizards due to what the team called sore calves, but he showed up on the Barclays Center Jumbotron before the game.

As soon as his image appeared, the crowd of Nets started to boo.

Irving hasn’t been one to avoid controversy since he joined Brooklyn. He missed a great deal of time during the 2020-2021 season because of the civil unrest in the country.

Irving had a tremendous year with the Nets, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 5.1 rebounds. He was named to his eighth all-star game.

After starting 2-5, Brooklyn won 16 of 18 games from November 27th to January 4th. They are sitting at 31-20 and fourth in the East Conference.

According to ESPN, The trade request was submitted after Irving, and the Nets did not agree to extend the contract. As a result, Irving would be looking at approximately four years, $198.5 million. Since requesting a trade, Irving has been linked to potentially the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, and Phoenix Suns.

“The Los Angeles Clippers have joined the pursuit of Nets’ Kyrie Irving, sources told ESPN on Saturday,” Wojnarowski wrote. “The Los Angeles, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns — among others — have been engaging with the Nets since Irving’s trade demand on Friday, sources said. And now the Clippers — who’ve been in the trade market for a point guard — are probing a possible deal too, sources said.”
