Blazers emerged as a strong suitor for Jazz’ Jarred Vanderbilt

The Portland Trail Blazers have emerged as a strong suitor for Utah Jazz forward Jarred Vanderbilt, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Charania further noted that the Blazers are “among a few teams showing interest in Vanderbilt, who appears increasingly likely to be dealt with ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline.”

Vanderbilt, who was acquired by the Jazz in a blockbuster package that sent Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves, is enjoying a strong year with his new club, tallying 8.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while draining 56.0 percent of his field goals per 51 games.

But with the All-Star emergence of Lauri Markkanen, it is likely that he will just settle on a support role behind him at the power forward spot.

Portland, known for its desire to hunt a lengthy wing, has a logical intent for Vanderbilt given its defensive reputation and potential.
