Russell Westbrook contributed to 8 of the Lakers 15 points in overtime against the Knicks by making 3 assists and scoring himself once.

The 34-year-old point guard finished the game with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists as Los Angeles recorded a narrow win 129-123.

After the game Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was asked about Westbrook’s performance in overtime.

“Just him having a smaller guy on him, him being able to get low – that’s a hard pick and roll action to navigate, especially that area of the floor forces you to make a tough decision whether you’re going concentrate on the ball and the screener is one step away from a layup,” Ham said.

“Having Bron up top we knew if nothing materializes out of a two-man game, we can easily kick it here for a quick drive or a shot. And we just went with it. We took our time, used the clock properly and executed.

“He was in great rhythm tonight. It was beautiful to see. Really all of the guys that participated had their different moments throughout the game, but especially those guys that finished down the stretch.”

This season Russ is averaging 15.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 28.6 minutes per game.
