Celtics’ Joe Mazzulla to coach Team Giannis in 2023 All-Star Game

Boston Celtics interim coach Joe Mazzulla and his staff will call the shots for Giannis Antetokounmpo-led All-Star team in the upcoming 2023 NBA All-Star Game.

Mazzulla is the first Celtics coach since Brad Stevens in 2017 to take the coaching of an All-Star team.

Mazzulla took the assignment upon the Sixers’ 119-109 downfall against the Orlando Magic this Monday, allowing the Celtics to have the best record through Sunday this week – serving as the cut-off in determining who will coach from both conferences.

The promising coach has impressively guided the Celtics to the league’s best 35-16 record. He inherited the coaching keys of the team in September, days after Ime Udoka was slapped with a one-season suspension for violating team rules that revolve around improper relationships with team staff.

So far, the Denver Nuggets remain in position as the top-seeded team in the West, leading two games over the Memphis Grizzlies. Should the club wins two of its four games this week, it will allow head coach Michael Malone to lead Team LeBron in the All-Star matchup.

The 2023 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Feb. 19 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
