Steve Kerr on Donte DiVincenzo: “He has kinda taken on Gary’s role”

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says Donte DiVincenzo is doing a terrific job of being that defensive minded guard off the bench this season (1.3 SPG).

(via Let’s Go Warriors):

“Donte’s played a big role for us this year. He has kinda taken on Gary [Payton II]’s role from a year ago, being our defensive guard who is coming in to guard the best guy and play with a lot of energy. He’s different from Gary because he’s more of a ball handler and a playmaker, Gary played more like a finishing 4 man around the basket. But Donte has just found a way to fit right in. He played for a great college program at Villanova, a great coach with Jay Wright, so there’s an awareness of how we play with the ball movement, the flow, and the cutting. He fits right into our group.”
