Efes Pilsen’s head coach David Blatt has resigned after the club suffered a loss against 77-81 against Pinar Karsiyaka in Turkish league. The club started the season quite well. Efes Pilsen reached Top 16 in Euroleague and even defeated defending champions Panathinaikos.
Four of the club’s American players refused to travel to Belgrade and three of them were released. Since then Efes Pilsen lost all their games in Euroleague and weren’t impressive in the Turkish league either.
There are rumours for a couple of months already suggesting that David Blatt is wanted by CSKA Moscow for the next season. There are serious intentions to have Russian national team head coach working at a Russian club with Ettore Messina being linked with Barcelona.
Ekrem Memnun will be the head coach till the end of the season.
