Celtics keen on intents to add insurance presence for two starting bigs

The Boston Celtics are determined to tap needed support from a frontcourt enforcer for additional help this high season of repeated emergence.

Sources told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report that the Celtics are looking for a big body via trade that will serve as insurance for both Rob Williams III and Al Horford.

“The defending Eastern Conference champs are seeking to add injury insurance behind Robert Williams III and Al Horford, two players they have to carefully manage during the regular season,” Haynes wrote. “If the Celtics don’t acquire a big before the trade deadline, they’ll turn their attention to the buyout market.”

This intent by the Cs for a frontcourt help can’t even be more obvious. With Williams III being carefully activated by the club as he was off from knee surgery last offseason, Horford also needs a major breather due to his age and the major load he carried with the young big man missing the first portion of the 2022-23 season.

The Celtics are notably rumored hunting San Antonio Spurs veteran big Jakob Poeltl, who is consistently being subjected to trade rumblings because of being a soon-to-be unrestricted free agent and the franchise’s current era of committing towards a rebuild.
