The San Antonio Spurs have plenty of obvious trade assets this season, and they are gaining more significant buzz now around the league.
Though the Spurs have placed two first-round picks as a return for Jakob Poeltl, there is a belief that the club can only attain one, sources told HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto. The Spurs’ high asking price for Poeltl has been viewed as unreachable since he is set to become an unrestricted free agent and could earn a $20 million salary range in his new deal.
Meanwhile, Doug McDermott is noted to be possibly available for two-second picks in the market. McDermott, 31, is averaging 10.1 points while shooting 41.1 percent from three. Though he can help teams with his reliable shooting, he would be costly with that $13.7 million salary that he’s needed to be paid up until next year.
Lastly, San Antonio is seeking a second-round pick for veteran Josh Richardson. The seven-year pro is tallying 11.4 points and 3.2 assists for the Spurs, as he is slated to become a free agent next offseason.
