Nikola Jokic is fully determined to rally Serbia towards the pinnacle of basketball glory.

In an interview with Arena Sport (h/t FIBA), Jokic aired his intentions to power the Serbian national team in the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.

“If I’m there (WC 2023), I’ll do my best to win a medal,” he said to Arena Sport.

Despite harnessing hype and expectations as one of the basketball’s clear-cut powerhouses, Jokic and Serbia came up short and fell in the Round of 16 of the last FIBA EuroBasket contest – a painful finish for the club that was favorites to claim the top prize.

But highly motivated by the defeat, Jokic is ready to go all-in. The reigning two-time NBA MVP will truly fortify his nation’s chances to be the best basketball country in FIBA this year.

“I was more ready just because of the clear motive we had on the EuroBasket. We had a great connection as a team. Even when we lost against Italy, I said that I enjoyed playing with those guys, it was a pleasure sharing the locker room with them. Great group of people.”

The 2023 FIBA World Cup is set to take place with shared hosting of Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The grand basketball event will officially commence on Aug. 25 later this year.
