Charles Barkley: Rudy Gobert to Timberwolves is the worst trade in NBA history

This past offseason the Timberwolves traded for Rudy Gobert, giving up Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, and the draft rights to center Walker Kessler in addition to four first-round picks and a 2026 first-round pick swap.

The trade had a major impact on the NBA trade market as other teams took note of what the asking price for their own players should be.

A prime example of that was Kevin Durant who requested a trade from the Nets, but no deal was ever made because Brooklyn’s asking price was just too high.

With the season crossing its halfway point, the Gobert trade can be assessed. NBA legend Charles Barkley gave his take, calling it the worst trade in NBA history.

“The Timberwolves made the worst trade in NBA history,” Chuck said on TNT. “That was so stupid that trade.”

This season Gobert averaging 13.6 points (his lowest in seven years) and 11.8 rebounds in 31.2 minutes per game.

Also, the Timberwolves are in the ninth place in the Western Conference.
