Coach Gregg Popovich commends Mike Brown on job well done in Kings’ ongoing emergence

The splendid job that head coach Mike Brown is exerting in the Sacramento Kings can’t be even more satisfying in the eyes of Gregg Popovich.

Prior to their Sunday match, the San Antonio Spurs longtime coach has praised his mentee’s effort in trying to catapult Sacramento towards that longed contention.

“He’s done a great job, which is no surprise,” Popovich said of Brown, via Tom Orsborn of San Antonio Express-News. “He has got a lot of experience. He knows how to create relationships. He has high standards. He’ll hold everybody accountable, and it’s working. They’re following his lead. I am thrilled for him.”

The Kings have picked up the weekend win, overpowering the Spurs with a 132-119 win.

The victory hands the club another mark to their rising status, as they are now 24-18 in West standings – good enough for the fourth-seed so far.

Perhaps, this ongoing success in the camp of Sac-town has been a sight to behold, with the franchise determined to snap that 16-year postseason slump under the leadership of Brown and the brilliance of Domantas Sabonis as well as De’Aaron Fox.

Brown, who made his return to top coaching after years of success as an assistant in the Golden State Warriors, is channelling his magic touch towards the Kings team that has been hungry to chase contention.

As such, with their current rate, they can only hope to keep that consistency until April to finally claim their right to hold a playoff key since 2006.
