Despite gaining offers, the New York Knicks hold a coveted consideration of sticking around with Immanuel Quickley.

Sources told NBA insider Marc Stein that the Knicks are hesitant to part ways with the young guard who is receiving “considerable external interest” amongst rival teams for a trade.

“The Knicks’ Immanuel Quickley has generated considerable external interest, league sources say, but the strong signals emanating from Gotham indicate that New York is increasingly reluctant to part with him.”

Earlier this season, there were some rumblings that the Knicks have made Quickley available for trade talks, but it seems that the narrative already made a sudden shift.

This year, Quickley is averaging 12.3 points on 41.9 percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game – considerable productive numbers in his third year in the league.

As such, he also made a step up in his game with New York experiencing plenty of unavailability on their units. He made eight starts out of his 43 appearances and ultimately gained the trust of Tom Thibodeau upon his career-high 27.1 minutes average per contest.

After a slow start that needed gelling and adjustments, the Knicks quickly turned their season around and now enjoying the sixth-best record in the East with a 24-19 record, and Quickley has a significant part of this ongoing good run.

Quickley has been a serviceable presence off the bench frequently as a backup for Jalen Brunson and he can also be relied on when it mattered the most. As such, the reluctance of the Knicks to ship him away can never even develop more questions and curiosity.
