Nick Nurse: Otto Porter Jr. yet to make progress in toe recovery

Besides their ongoing inconsistent play, the Toronto Raptors are also having a hard time with Otto Porter Jr.’s health this season.

As told by head coach Nick Nurse on Tuesday (h/t TSN’s Josh Lewenberg), Porter Jr. isn’t making any progress in his recovery from a toe injury.

Porter Jr. has been on the Raptors’ shelf for nearly two months after sustaining a dislocated toe back on Nov. 14 against the Detroit Pistons.

The veteran only managed to play eight games so far this season, as he was initially hampered by a hamstring injury last preseason. He is currently averaging just 5.5 points, 2.4 boards in 50 percent shooting.

Off from his championship run with the Golden State Warriors, Porter Jr. became the prized acquisition of Toronto from last free agency, as both sides have agreed on a two-year, $12.4 million deal.

With him being out on an indefinite timeline, the Raptors are in deep contemplation on who to plug to help them provide an additional two-way punch as the season progresses.
