The 76ers started the year 2023 with the victory against the Pelicans (120-111). Philadelphia’s superstars led the charge for the winners as Joel Embiid scored 42 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and James Harden had 27 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds.

On the opposing side Zion Williamson who scored 26 points had to leave the game due to his hamstring strain. The young star was frustrated with some of the calls from the officials. Sixers’ head coach Doc Rivers was asked about that after the game.

“It’s tough. I mean, listen, it’s like guarding a fast Shaq,” Rivers said. “Not saying that Shaq was slow but… but it is. He’s tough. I mean, look, have those calls depends on what side of the bench you are with him. He’s just a tough guy to guard.”
